Are you an experienced academic administrator looking to develop a career within examination and teaching administration? Are you enthusiastic about providing an excellent level of service to students and colleagues? We may have the role for you!
We have an exciting opportunity for an Undergraduate Studies Officer to join our Education team.
Our undergraduates always study philosophy in conjunction with at least one other subject, across eight possible joint degree programmes:
You will be responsible for providing exemplary programme support for all undergraduate students in philosophy. With assistance from the Education Support Officer, you will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Studies to administer the Faculty’s undergraduate teaching and examination. You will act as Secretary to the Philosophy Undergraduate Studies Committee, will represent the Faculty at regular Joint Schools Committee meetings with academic and administrative colleagues in our partner departments and faculties, and will coordinate complex processes relating to examination and assessment. You will work closely with fellow members of the Education team and the wider professional services team, as well as with key Faculty members and fellow academic administrators in other departments and faculties.
As well as the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team, we can offer you a competitive salary (including an Oxford Weighting Allowance), 38 days holiday per year, enrolment in a good pension scheme, access to employee benefits and discounts and professional development opportunities.
In return we are looking for a candidate with significant experience of complex academic administration tasks and exemplary accuracy and attention to detail. They must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and with sensitivity and discretion. Strong organisation skills are essential along with the ability to remain calm under pressure. The successful candidate will be a good team player but have the ability to be self-motivated and work independently.
This post will primarily be office based, but there may be the opportunity for occasional remote working.
