About the Role

The School of Travel, Food and Drink are recruiting a highly motivated and ambitious Programme Manager who has the experience and skills to lead, oversee and grow our apprenticeship offers. 

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Programme Manager to lead and develop our apprenticeship provision within the School of Travel, Food and Drink – a department that has proudly maintained an Outstanding grade for the past four years. This role involves managing a team of three assessors and driving the growth of our current apprenticeship cohort of 55 learners. Apprenticeships delivered include Commis Chef, Production Chef, Butchery, Hospitality Team Member, Hospitality Supervisor, and Food and Drink Process Operator at Levels 2 and 3. The successful candidate will work closely with curriculum teams to ensure high-quality delivery, excellent learner outcomes, and strong employer partnerships. A sound understanding of the apprenticeship sector, along with relevant industry knowledge, is essential.

What You Will Do

As Programme Manager – Apprenticeships, you will:

  • Ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of apprenticeship standards, meeting all funding, compliance, and quality requirements.

  • Lead and oversee the performance of a team of assessors, ensuring efficient working practices and a consistent learner experience.

  • Deliver training and lead standardisation sessions to maintain consistency and excellence in delivery and assessment.

  • Advise and support curriculum teams and learners to ensure apprenticeship programmes are well-integrated and aligned with industry expectations.

  • Maintain and drive strong success, retention and achievement rates, supporting learners to complete their programmes on time and to a high standard.

  • Proactively support tutors and employers to identify and resolve issues that may impact learner progress or quality of delivery.

  • Work collaboratively with quality and audit teams to manage risk, ensure compliance, and enhance the overall learner journey.

  • Work closely with the BDA (Business Development and Apprenticeships) team to meet recruitment targets and contribute to strategic growth.

  • Develop and maintain positive internal and external partnerships, supporting effective apprenticeship delivery, quality assurance and wider governance initiatives.

About You

  • Hold a L5 teaching qualification or equivalent
  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Hold Assessor and IQA qualifications (or willingness to work towards) 
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and skills to manage delivery across the Food and Drink curriculum.
  • Experience of using on-line portfolio systems
  • Experience of positively managing student and group progression, advice and guidance to positive outcomes.
  • Experience of workplace assessment of learners 
  • Experience of undertaking internal verification and moderation activities.
  • Proven commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience of supervising/managing staff to ensure high performance.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders and being influential in establishing effective partnerships.
