About the Role
The post is based in the Centre for Trauma Sciences within the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma at the Blizard Institute. The Trauma Sciences research team (www.c4ts.qmul.ac.uk) provides the framework for trauma sciences research that we believe will lead to a step-change in outcomes for trauma patients. We are also a member of the International Trauma Research Network. This collaboration of European and American specialist trauma centres aims to advance research in the field of fundamental, translational and clinical research into the body’s acute and longer-term response to severe injury and blood transfusion therapy.
The post-holder will work with the Principal Investigator, Dr Paul Vulliamy, on a research project investigating the effects of candidate therapeutics to neutralise extracellular histone, a damage-associated molecular pattern that is implicated in adverse outcomes after injury. This project will include using a range of clinically relevant models as well as in vitro experiments using samples from healthy donors and trauma patients.
