The faculty of Economics is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate starting August 2025, although the starting date is negotiable. The current funding is guaranteed from the Montague Burton Fund.
We are looking for a candidate who is a health economist with excellent computational skills. The post is attached to Prof. Eric French's Montague Burton Professorship. The research aims at exploring and understanding the drivers of medical spending, and how medical spending risk affects savings. Knowledge of economics, programming in MATLAB and JULIA, and the Health and Retirement Study data is necessary. Understanding linkages with administrative medical records is also highly valuable.
The successful candidate will be expected to work on estimating dynamic models of medical spending and savings and is expected to publish in high-impact academic journals, and to contribute to the collegial and intellectual life of the Economics faculty.
