We are hiring a technical assistant! Amen lab works on cell biology of organelles, with particular interest in peroxisomes, using genetic engineering, biochemical, and imaging approaches.
This is a 50% technician position, initially for one year with a possibility of extending it for another year. The preference will be given to someone who wants to integrate into the lab in the future.
We are looking for someone to help maintain and improve the lab with an interest in sustainability and cell biology. It is a challenging modular job that involves problem solving and a fair amount of recycling. We are very interested in sustainability and improving ways to apply 7R principles in the lab. We are looking for someone who is interested in learning 3d printing, going to sustainability conferences, participating in lab meetings, and assisting PI on a daily basis.
This is not a routine or desk job, although some procedures (like autoclaving) will be routine and some jobs (like ordering reagents) will be from your desk. If you are happy to learn on a daily basis and participate in the lab activities such as outreach conferences and lab meetings, assist in standard operating procedures (e.g. buffer preparation), maintain the lab, and learn ways of improving the lab work - this job is for you.
