Salary up to £42,000 depending on skills and experience

We are seeking an ambitious, talented, and motivated individual to lead an exciting and innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between Aquatrust Water & Ventilation Ltd and the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University.

This 24-month KTP project will centre on the development of a bespoke remote monitoring system that enables Aquatrust to test and detect conditions that lead to legionella formation, using their own sensor hardware and integrated software interface. The solution aims to transform traditional industry practices, shifting from manual, on-site testing to automated, real-time monitoring—making operations more efficient, sustainable, and scalable.

We encourage applications from a self-starter with a creative mindset, excellent project management skills and a technical background in software development or knowledge of embedded systems and IoT technologies.

This is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project which provides you with an invaluable opportunity to fast-track your career development, gain senior-level experience, and establish your position as an industry leader in applied technology and innovation.

To help you with this, you benefit from a management training programme and a substantial personal development budget of £4k to help you develop your skills to support this project. There is also the opportunity to study for a higher degree (PhD or MRes) with fee waiver alongside the role.

You will work alongside an engaged and forward-thinking leadership team at Aquatrust and a team of academics from Leeds Beckett University, gaining wide-ranging and senior level experience.

The role

Supported by a comprehensive project plan you will work with the team at Aquatrust and Leeds Beckett University to:

  • Lead the design and implementation of an AI-driven risk reporting and management portal, integrating data from remote monitoring systems and business intelligence tools to enhance Aquatrust’s service offerings.
  • Conduct a comprehensive internal audit of Aquatrust’s resources and capabilities, identifying strengths, bottlenecks, and opportunities for competitive advantage using frameworks such as VRIO and RBV.
  • Prototype, evaluate, and compare commercial and open-source AI technologies, including LLMs and RAG frameworks, to determine optimal solutions for real-time decision support in water management contexts.
  • Develop and maintain a secure, accessible Knowledge Repository, capturing all technical artefacts, project outputs, and process documentation to support long-term innovation and internal capacity building.
  • Facilitate technical integration and user acceptance testing, ensuring the AI system aligns with internal business processes and stakeholder needs, and is fully embedded within Aquatrust’s operational architecture.

The Company

Aquatrust Water & Ventilation Limited (Aquatrust) are experts in the field of water hygiene, water treatment, water regulations and legionella control. Established in 2003 they are based in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire employing 42 staff. You will be based at the company premises, and will feel, to all intents and purposes, part of the Aquatrust team.

The Person

We are looking for applications from a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills and project management experience. The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, AI or similar and have a strong technical background in software development.

This will be an exciting role for the right candidate presenting an excellent opportunity to make a tangible difference to the business.

Closing date: Monday 1st September 2025 (23:59)
