Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Are you a talented and collaborative MRI Physicist looking for your next challenge in a cutting-edge clinical and research environment? Join our dynamic team at the Centre for Advanced MRI (CAMRI) in Auckland, New Zealand – the country’s first dedicated MRI teaching, clinical, and research facility.

We’re seeking a Senior MRI Physicist to support our advanced MRI capabilities across both clinical and research settings. You'll work alongside a diverse team of clinicians, researchers, biomedical engineers, physiologists, and MRI scientists to deliver high-quality imaging and support pioneering research initiatives. This is a varied and rewarding role, combining technical expertise, innovation, and patient-focused service.

Ngā Haepapa Matua | Key Responsibilities (not limited too):

  • Drive advanced MRI application development in collaboration with Siemens and academic partners
  • Contribute to a wide range of clinical imaging – including cardiac, neuro, liver, vascular, and paediatric MRI
  • Support academic research projects and clinical trials
  • Collaborate on veterinary imaging with local partners
  • Be part of a collegial, forward-thinking, and diverse team

This is a part-time (30 hr per week) permanent role

The remuneration is $110,100 - $130,000 per annum dependent on skills and experience and will be pro-rated

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

Located within the University of Auckland, CAMRI provides both clinical MRI services and research expertise, supporting hospital and private referrers as well as the wider academic community. We operate state-of-the-art equipment including:

  • Siemens 3T Vida Fit
  • Siemens 1.5T Avanto Fit
  • Mock Espree for training and preparation

We are seeking applicants who have:

Essential qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in physics, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience with MRI pulse programming (preferably on Siemens platforms)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A collaborative, positive approach to teamwork and problem-solving
