An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Engineering Research Support Office for a Research Impact and Engagement Manager, who will play a vital role in developing, promoting and supporting the Department of Engineering's research impact ambitions. The Department is the largest in the University with over 200 faculty and more than 500 research staff.

The Research Impact and Engagement Manager will lead the development and implementation of the Department's knowledge exchange and engagement strategy. The role will include but will not be limited to: identifying new industry partners for research collaborations; working with businesses that approach the Department to identify and develop research opportunities;  supporting and guide academics in developing and sustaining research impact and knowledge exchange; promoting and supporting the translation of research outputs into commercial propositions; creating and delivering activities for increasing engagement with industry; providing contractual, commercial and intellectual property management advice and guidance; engaging with internal and external stakeholders; and reporting on and quantifying the Department's research impact.

The successful candidate will be educated at degree level or possess an equivalent level of professional experience. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be well versed in liaising between academia and industry, have excellent project management and communication skills and have the desire to drive change, with experience in research proposal development contract negotiations.

This role is predominantly office-based on Department premises (at both central and West Cambridge sites). The role holder will be expected to spend a minimum of 50% of their time out amongst the Department's six academic divisions, engaging with the relevant research communities.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
