The Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine (FoLSM) is an ambitious and forward-thinking faculty, with an outstanding reputation for teaching across a range of disciplines.
The FoLSM teaching laboratories are split across two campuses, Waterloo and Guy’s, and are run by a team of dedicated technical staff, with extensive experience of delivering high quality technical support for world class practical education and enhancing the student experience.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of the team, supporting innovation and sustainability in teaching activities, and having a significant impact on student experience and success.
We are looking to recruit two new teaching technicians.
As a teaching technician, you will be part of a team that provides essential support to academic staff and students across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory-based modules. Under the supervision of the Senior Technician, you will be responsible for preparing practical classes, setting up experiments and demonstrations, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring that teaching laboratories operate safely and efficiently.
The role will involve working effectively within a small team to prepare practical classes for Biochemistry, Genetics, Forensic Science and Analytical Toxicology, or Nutrition and Dietetics at the Waterloo campus, in the first instance.
However, this role sits within a larger cross-campus, multi-disciplinary team and the role holder should be flexible as they may be required to rotate between Waterloo and Guy’s campuses to enhance their own skills, and knowledge, and to build resilience within the wider team.
The role holder will also be expected to take on summer projects, outside of term time, to improve education delivery, as well as engaging with wider technical networks, King’s initiatives such as sustainability, CPD and training opportunities.
This position offers the opportunity to be part of a supportive and collaborative environment committed to student success and scientific excellence. It is also an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills, and knowledge, and to contribute meaningfully to life science education.
This is a full-time role (35 Hours per week), offered on an indefinite contract.
