We are looking for an Evidence and Evaluation Officer to support the Evidence Team to generate and synthesise evidence on what works to support vulnerable children and young people.

If you want to join an impact-driven organisation, improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families, then apply today!

The Role

Evidence and Evaluation Officers play a vital role in generating and synthesising evidence on what works and developing resources to support its translation for policymakers, commissioners and practitioners.

The role primarily contributes to the Strengthening Families, Supporting Children programme – a flagship initiative with three large-scale evaluations of distinct social work practice models. This is a rare opportunity to support high-impact evaluations that directly inform national policy. You’ll join the project team, working closely with other Evidence and Evaluation Officers under the supervision of a Senior Evaluation Officer. You will also support commissioned evaluations.

About You

The role requires strong research and professional skills, including communication, initiative, and the ability to engage diverse audiences. A master’s in social science, public health, or a related field—or equivalent experience—is essential.

You will have experience in:

  • Conducting implementation/process evaluations and delivering outputs
  • Research in sensitive, complex settings, including children’s social care
  • Collecting data from vulnerable children, young people, and families
  • Analysing quantitative data, including survey and administrative data
  • Coding qualitative data using NVivo and applying various qualitative methods
  • Writing clear, concise, comprehensive research reports.

The organisation

This is a great place to work, where everyone is high performing and where together everyone can achieve impact that makes a real difference for vulnerable children and families. Focusing on using and championing high-quality evidence, working directly with government and local leaders, the team provides practical solutions and encourages change. This is an organisation with ambitious aims and people are essential to its success.

Benefits include:

  • Up to five days carers’ leave annually, three paid
  • 30 days annual leave, your birthday off, and paid bank holidays—up to three can be switched for religious observance
  • Paid compassionate leave
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • Enhanced parental leave and pay
  • 6% employer and 3% employee pension contributions, with no cap on extra employee contributions via auto enrolment
  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 counselling, legal, and info line
  • Unlimited 24/7 GP access
  • Mental health support
  • Life cover at 4x salary
  • Bike to work scheme

The organisation offers excellent salaries, development opportunities, and a great office location in St James’s. With hybrid and flexible working, it values a good work-life balance. Staff living within about two hours of the office are expected onsite two days per week. More flexible or home-working arrangements can be discussed for those based further afield.

It’s vital that the workforce reflects the diversity of stakeholders, and the wider society in the UK, and we actively seek candidates from diverse backgrounds and communities.

You may have experience in other areas such as evidence, evaluation, research, evidence and evaluation, impact and evaluation, or other roles, for example Evidence Officer, Evaluation Officer, Research Officer, Evidence and Evaluation Officer, Senior Researcher.
