Position

The Head of Quality and Governance is a senior leadership role responsible for providing institute wide direction and operational oversight of academic quality assurance, enhancement, and institutional governance at LCCM. Working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, the postholder ensures that all academic provision meets sector and regulatory standards and supports the college’s strategic goals for excellence, innovation, and student success.

This role is central to ensuring that LCCM maintains full regulatory compliance with the Office for Students (OfS), QAA expectations, and the conditions of its academic partnership, whilst also promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the institution.

The role reports to the Managing. Director at LCCM with a dotted line report to the Chief Academic Officer for the UK Colleges Group (GUS)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for academic quality, risk, and governance across the College.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the College’s quality assurance framework.
  • Manage quality processes including programme validation, periodic review, annual monitoring, and external examiner engagement.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of data and student feedback to drive quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with partner university requirements, regulatory audits (e.g. OfS, QAA), and academic partnership reviews.
  • Act as Servicing Officer to key academic committees, ensuring effective governance arrangements.
  • Build strong relationships with academic partners and internal stakeholders to support a culture of academic excellence.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on institutional responses.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree (essential); postgraduate qualification or doctorate (desirable).
  • Relevant professional training or certification in quality assurance or governance (desirable).

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • PhD or higher-level research degree.
  • Fellowship (or higher) of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Experience of pedagogical research and its application in learning and assessment.
  • Industry-recognised expertise in business-related subjects.
