SENIOR LECTURER or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR– Experienced academic leader with a proven track record of significant and ongoing success in developing, growing and managing a multiple post-graduate degree programme portfolio.

BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and other UK universities. CURRENT CONTEXT AND FUTURE DIRECTION 

Our Staffordshire University Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme integrates business education with innovative AI-based teaching methods, offering a comprehensive understanding of key business domains such as finance, marketing, leadership and strategic management. The AI component enhances learning through personalized content, real-time feedback, and interactive simulations, making complex concepts more accessible and engaging.

The brief for the Head, The Graduate School will be to expand the postgraduate portfolio to include the introduction of new Masters programmes, as well as a suite of potential PG Certificates, Diplomas and micro-credentials. The ultimate of the position is to grow the PG student numbers and overall reputation of PG studies at BUV. The position would work closely with the Head, International Recruitment & Business Development to expand the current student profile.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Driving Student Growth: Develop and implement strategies to increase student enrollment in postgraduate programs. This includes identifying and targeting new student demographics and markets, enhancing outreach efforts, and leveraging data analytics to understand trends and preferences.

Market Development: Explore and penetrate new markets for student recruitment. This involves conducting market research to identify potential student groups, adapting marketing strategies to meet their needs, and establishing partnerships with organizations that can facilitate student recruitment.

Program Innovation: Lead the development of new and relevant postgraduate programs that align with market demands and student interests. Collaborate with faculty to ensure curriculum offerings are competitive and innovative.

Enhancing Student Experience: Oversee the delivery of high-quality educational experiences for postgraduate students. Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve program offerings and support services.

Collaboration and Networking: Build relationships with industry partners, educational institutions, and community organizations to enhance the university's visibility and attract prospective students.

Leadership and Management: Provide leadership to faculty and staff within the postgraduate school, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

(Essential)

  • PhD or Doctoral qualifications in a relevant discipline area from an internationally recognised institution
  • Strong track record of driving student enrollment and market development
  • Proven track record of significant and ongoing success in developing, growing and managing multiple post-graduate programme options.
  • Proven experience in academic leadership, particularly in postgraduate education, including staff recruitment, selection, programme team management and building a ‘Post-graduate Culture’
  • University or postgraduate teaching experience in the field, having taught programmes where instruction is 100% English.
  • Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge to develop teaching programmes and the provision of student learning support.
  • In-depth understanding of own specialism to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
  • Experience of teaching, curriculum development and quality assurance and enhancement in an HE environment.
  • Research experience.
  • Knowledge of higher education and ability to use a range of up-to-date delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Understanding of equal opportunity issues as they may impact on academic content and issues relating to student needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strategic mindset.
  • Clean police record. 

(Desirable)

  • Higher education teaching qualification, recognition, or accreditation, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Experience of living and working in Vietnam or Asia.
  • Experience of teaching, curriculum development and quality assurance and enhancement in an HE environment.
  • Evidence of a positive impact at a discipline or programme level beyond own teaching. 

For all positions: Please note that original certificates and degrees will be required on arrival in Vietnam (degree and teaching certificates; CRB or other police checks) are required for work permit purposes.
