Research Associate in Marine Citizen Science

The Role
Are you a passionate marine scientist ready to make a difference through education, outreach, and citizen science?

Join us in leading an exciting programme to engage schools and coastal communities with their marine heritage. You'll co-create citizen science initiatives, innovate inclusive engagement methods, and conduct interdisciplinary research that empowers communities to act on environmental issues.

• Use your marine ecological expertise to address real-world challenges
• Collaborate with schools, local organisations, and international marine stations
• Create accessible digital learning resources
• Deliver community training and support volunteer citizen scientists
• Help shape the future of marine outreach at Newcastle University

You'll need:

• A PhD (or near completion) in marine ecology, marine social science, or related field
• Experience working with communities on environmental or conservation issues
• Strong communication and project coordination skills
• A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
