An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and experienced Space Manager to join the Estates Unit of the University of St Andrews.
In the coming years, the University of St Andrews will invest c£30m per annum in a programme of strategic capital developments and refurbishments across its estate. As a member of the Estates Development Team, the post holder will play a key role in identifying the future strategic space needs of the University and will produce clear reports on the best options available to satisfy those needs in the context of the overall University and Estates strategies.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates (Development), the Space Manager will take direct responsibility for the efficient management of the University’s space asset and will hold full responsibility for the planning and implementation of all changes in the allocation of space.
The Space Manager will be a lead advisor to the Estates Management team and through them the University Executive on all matters relating to space planning and the effectiveness and efficiency of its use. The Space Manager will liaise with Academic Faculties and Services to establish existing and future space needs against University space norms and will assess and analyse other strategic demands on space and develop and assist with the implementation of a space strategy to accommodate such demands in the most efficient way.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have significant experience in space planning and space data management in a similar environment and will have been involved in large scale complex projects. Strong analytical ability will need to be demonstrated along with excellent interpersonal skills in this client facing role.
