KTP Associate in Genomic - Assisted Crop Breeding

The Crop Genetic Improvement research group at the University of Liverpool is internationally recognised for its research into molecular breeding, trait dissection, and translational crop genetics, with a strong track record of collaboration with industry to deliver impact in crop improvement.

We are looking for an experienced plant geneticist or molecular breeder to lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded project to develop a molecular breeding pipeline for Wild Rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia) in collaboration with CN Seeds Ltd., a leading UK salad crop breeder. This project will apply genomic selection, QTL mapping, and marker-assisted selection to accelerate breeding for commercially important traits such as bolting tendency, leaf morphology, and disease resistance.

You will have the opportunity to work across both academic and commercial environments, applying your scientific expertise to real-world breeding challenges and embedding advanced genetic tools into a fast-moving crop improvement programme.

You should have a PhD degree in plant genetics, molecular biology, crop science, or a related discipline, and experience of plant breeding, trait phenotyping, and the application of molecular or genomic tools in crop improvement. Experience with Brassicaceae crops or Wild Rocket would be highly advantageous.

The post is available for 36 months (fixed term).
