Looking to progress in your research administration career? The School of Anthropology & Museum Ethnography is seeking a professional with a background in research administration to provide maternity cover as Research Development Officer, a pivotal role with considerable responsibility for the development of the School’s research funding portfolio.
This post has responsibility (with the Pre-Award Grants Officer) for the administrative management of pre-award research activity at SAME, renowned for its broad and interdisciplinary approach to anthropology. The team supports research in a range of exciting anthropological disciplines, and engages with many varied funding bodies both in the UK and overseas.
You will work closely with all members of the School’s academic community providing tailored, individual guidance regarding written research grant and fellowship applications, postdoctoral research career plans, and advice on longer-term development and sustainability of research programmes and agendas. You will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic planning and development of research support and research activity across the School. You help to maintain relationships between the School and external stakeholders, including the Social Sciences Division and wider collegiate University, funding bodies, learned societies and government bodies. This role also represents an excellent opportunity to gain line management experience, as the role holder will take responsibility for line management of the Pre-Award Grants Officer.
The post is available from 10th November 2025 for 12 months, with the possibility of a short extension. It is full time, but substantive part time hours (80% of full time) will be considered. Requests for flexible working will be accommodated wherever possible.
This is an ideal secondment opportunity.
