Salary
Lecturer Grade F: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum.
Lecturer Grade G: £47,389 - £56,535 per annum.

The Role
The Economics Subject Group within Newcastle University Business School has 33 full-time research and teaching staff. We are a collegiate and generalist Group with expertise in all areas of economics. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality and attract high qualified students to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and are looking for an outstanding Lecturer in Economics to join our Group.

The Economics Subject Group has a vibrant Research Community that promotes research around all areas of economics and, especially, in the following sub-themes:

  • Applied Time Series Econometrics
  • Behavioural and Experimental Economics
  • Economics of Safety, Health, Environment and Risk
  • Finance, Financial Economics and Financial Econometrics
  • Labour, Health, Education and Development Economics
  • Macroeconomics, Policies and Institutions in Open Economic Systems
  • Spatial, Urban, Regional, International and Industrial Economics

Our members have active funded projects in a range of areas including the Creative Industries and their Internationalisation, Education, Development, Energy, Environmental, and Rural Economics. We have a long tradition in informing public sector policy formation and hosts a state-of-the-art Behavioural Research Laboratory. We have expanded significantly in recent years and now invite applications from strong candidates, committed to collegiality, for a full time, open-field lectureship.

You will hold, or be close to obtaining, a relevant PhD and will be able to demonstrate a capacity to publish in journals of international standing. You will also have: (i) A clear and viable strategy for sustained future research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications; and (ii) the ability to teach economics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will contribute to the research profile of the Economics Subject Group in Newcastle University Business School by publishing in internationally recognised journals, demonstrating research impact, and securing external research funding. Additionally, you will develop and deliver programmes at Newcastle University Business School, ensuring an outstanding teaching experience for our students.
