An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Student Services & Experience Directorate for an enthusiastic and motivated Wellbeing Coordinator to join our Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, known as the Life Lounge. We are looking for an individual with a “can-do” attitude who is an excellent team player and who can deliver excellent customer service even under demanding and busy periods.
The Wellbeing Coordinator is based within the Life Lounge and will form part of our specialist team offering bespoke mental health and wellbeing services, including Counselling, Mental Health Advisors and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
The successful candidate will deliver a triage service alongside initial advice and guidance on a wide variety of topics to students seeking access to mental health and wellbeing support. This involves identifying risks and safeguarding concerns in a timely manner, and facilitating appropriate onward referrals within the University or via external agencies/partnerships. As such, knowledge of local Mental Health and Third Sector organisations is required for this role.
The Wellbeing Coordinator will hold the position of Senior Designated Safeguarding Champion and will be a first point of contact for Safeguarding referrals. The Wellbeing Coordinator will also provide direction and support to the Wellbeing Advisor and will contribute to the strategic aims of the service. This includes the coordination of events, activities and targeted interventions to support student mental health and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to maintain a confidential, helpful and cooperative manner when working under pressure. You should be committed to working with a diverse student body and be able to show sensitivity to individual differences. In order to meet the needs of the University and Student Services, a flexible approach to working is an essential requirement of this role. The successful candidate will be able to manage competing deadlines and have the ability to use their own initiative.
