Opportunity overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Residential Services team as Senior Residential Advisor on a 6-month fixed-term basis.

Residential Services oversees the application, booking and allocation cycles for students living in university-partnered accommodation. It also provides specialist information and advice to current and prospective students on finding and living in accommodation, both on and off campus.

We’re looking for someone with strong organisation and communication skills, and a passion for delivering excellence to students. Experience of working in a student accommodation or housing advice setting would be an advantage.

As Senior Residential Adviser, you will enhance students’ experience by providing high-quality information and advice in relation to finding and living in accommodation.

You will deal with a range of enquiries including complex issues involving excellent partnership working and problem solving. You will also provide large-scale information and advice, through web and other resources, and events such as open days.

If you’re currently working in a student-facing and/or accommodation role, this could be an ideal development opportunity.

Key responsibilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, staff, landlords, and external agencies to provide a seamless service for students.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail with high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisation skills, including being self-motivated and able to proactively plan and prioritise own workload, manage deadlines and multitask.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative and robust decision making, using own judgment to explore positive outcomes to problems, as well as part of a team.
  • Advanced IT literacy with proficiency in office software packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience of databases and/or CRM packages, excellent data management skills, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Enthusiasm to embrace the opportunity to gain experience in a new team, with a strong commitment to student experience and continuous improvement.
