The School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at Oxford Brookes University provides an intellectually stimulating, friendly and supportive environment in which to work and study. In addition to teaching, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their research in one of the areas described below and get involved in our excellent extracurricular activities. The School is also the home to the most successful UK Formula Student team Oxford Brookes Racing, who have enviable dedicated design and manufacture spaces, to design and build an advanced electric racing vehicle. 

We invite you to apply if you have expertise in one of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering (electric vehicles expertise and ability to use MultiSim or similar software will be an advantage).
  • Mechanical Design (expertise in composite materials and ability to use Siemens NX, SolidWorks, LS Dyna, Ansys or similar software would be an advantage) Vehicles Dynamics & Vibrations Engineering     

We have the following posts available:

1 x Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering as full-time, fixed term position for two years

1 x Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as full-time, permanent

You will be responsible for: 

  • Providing teaching on relevant advanced modules on undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering programmes;
  • Supporting high levels of student achievement and high levels of student satisfaction;
  • Assisting the Head of School in the day-to-day management of the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics;
  • Assisting implementation of the new programmes and development of new programmes and partnerships;
  • Assisting the implementation of University and Faculty/ School strategies for enhancing the student experience, including the enrichment of teaching and learning by research and professional engagement;
  • Undertaking administrative duties commensurate with the role of module leader;
  • Undertaking teaching and research/ scholarship in the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

You should have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline;
  • A demonstrable track record of teaching excellence, and a proven track record in research/ scholarly activity;
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
