Are you an experienced educator with a proven experience of supporting colleagues to develop their teaching, learning, and assessment? Do you combine deep pedagogic expertise with the creativity, adaptability, and people skills to inspire change? If so, we’d love you to join our Learning Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD) Centre at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. We are in an exciting period as we launch our new Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy, and are looking for a colleague who can play a key leadership role in enhancing practice across QMU, including our domestic and international partnerships and QMU Online, our online portfolio.
At QMU, social justice shapes our vision and values. We believe education should be compassionate, inclusive, and transformative. Our mission is to help create a better society through teaching, research, and innovation, supported by a collaborative culture where both staff and students can thrive. We know balance matters so we offer 38 days’ annual leave, flexible working, and a beautiful East Lothian campus just six minutes by train from Edinburgh city centre and a short cycle from the coast.
As a member of the LEAD Centre, your focus will be on working with academic and professional services colleagues to build capacity, confidence, and creativity in their LTA practice. You will design and lead evidence-informed academic development opportunities; support EDI, Sustainability/ Employability/ Decolonising approaches across our learning and teaching provision; mentor and inspire staff through our accredited academic development programmes, including our TLA in TE short course, the new PgCAP due to start in Jan 2026 and ASPIRE, our CPD route to Fellowship. You will champion inclusive policy, practice and pedagogy at institutional and sector levels and support and grow pedagogic research and scholarship, shaping our approach to teaching and learning.
We are looking for someone who brings extensive experience in enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment at an institutional level. You should have a track record of supporting and inspiring colleagues to innovate and improve their practice and the adaptability to respond to change, the vision to see new possibilities, and the interpersonal skills to build strong, collaborative relationships.
If you want to join a university where your expertise will make a lasting impact - both on the colleagues you support and the students they inspire - this is your opportunity to lead and shape learning and teaching at QMU.
