Job Summary:
As the Director of Learning, you will be responsible for managing existing and developing new BARBRI programmes. This will include continuous review and enhancement of existing courses and scoping and developing new courses to provide a highly interactive, innovative, pedagogically and technology based superior suite of learning programmes which are suitable for the intended audience and produce outstanding results for students and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
New Programme Development
- Responsible for the development and launch of new Higher Education and licensure products; with a particular focus upon pedagogy, course structure and content and quality assurance.
- Working cross functionally with BARBRI teams, tutors and SMEs to ensure new courses are delivered efficiently to deadlines and are of a superior quality.
- Undertake research into new product options, providing legal and academic insight into new course strategies or existing course structures.
Existing Programme Management (SQE & Supplemental Products)
- Responsibility for existing programme and course updates and implementing ongoing product development.
- Ensure all courses reflect current SRA/regulatory requirements and maintain accreditation where required.
- Overall responsibility for the quality assurance of course delivery and any associated actions.
- Subject matter expert for annual course updates or new content in designated subject areas.
- Participating in course delivery as required.
- Responsibility for Personal Study Plan (PSP) course design process.
- Collaborating with the Operations Team to ensure effective scheduling and delivery of existing courses.
- Review of student and client feedback and associated actions.
- Dealing with student or staff complaints.
Line Management
- Line management, QA and development of designated Learning Team staff.
- Recruitment and training of internal and external faculty staff.
External Stakeholder Engagement
- SQE1 & SQE2 Train the Trainer delivery for licensing partners.
- Assisting with marketing events and collateral.
- Assisting the BD and University Partnership teams with tenders, pitches and partner monitoring meetings.
- Assisting the sales team with product specific enquiries and providing product updates.
- Attending regulator meetings.
Other
- Member of the Management Team and Academic Board.
- Safeguarding officer.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- UK Lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister).
- Teaching and learning experience in the legal professional higher education market (preferably a Fellow of Advance HE or hold a PGCE in Higher Education).
- Experience in course design and review, particularly in the development of online learning programmes.
Skills and Key Competencies:
- Demonstrates deep interest in trends in legal education, learning science and educational technology.
- Understanding of the needs of an undergraduate, postgraduate and professional legal audience.
- Experience coordinating/managing multiple, concurrent projects.
- Proven ability to work in a geographically distributed virtual team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally with students, internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Ability to line manage a small team.
- Ability to develop strong and effective working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Seasoned, flexible and motivated team player with a growth mindset and bias for action.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyse information skillfully.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
