The Department
The Student Services department at the University of West London deliver student-centred and outcomes driven employability support aligned with UWL’s IMPACT 2028 and Student Careers and Employability strategies. We support students to become career-ready through curriculum embedded employability and professional experiences, high quality IAG (Information, advice and guidance), industry-informed events, and employer-led recruitment programmes. We work in collaboration across three core strands Careers, Placements and Employer & Partnership Engagement, alongside operational support and graduate operations to drive positive graduate outcomes, measurable employability linked learning gain enhance social mobility, build outcome focused external partnerships and ensure students develop the skills, confidence and connections to succeed in an evolving global job market.
The Role
The Placement Officer role is centred on supporting UWL undergraduate and post graduate students to secure work experience as part of their degree. The successful candidate will enjoy brokering meaningful internal and external partnerships, to support quality work experience provision, employability events, and represent the Placement Service at internal and external events.
The Person
The successful candidate will have experience working in an operational support team, be experienced in negotiation and service delivery, able to develop close and effective working relationships with colleagues and external organisations.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and customer services skills developed in a commercial or student facing context. The ability to problem solve and work well under pressure, with experience of building relationships with employers together with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in both written and verbal format.
The successful candidate will also have proficient IT skills including experience of using and customising CRM database systems to improve service delivery and manage priorities. The position is an excellent opportunity to make a difference at a high performing modern and diverse London university.

Please note this is an on-site role primarily based at our St. Mary’s Road Campus in Ealing but staff are expected to work at Paragon House, Brentford.
