We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The University of Cumbria is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Recruitment & Outreach Officer to lead on school and college engagement and open events to drive recruitment to our brand-new Barrow Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the campus’s reputation, build strong partnerships with schools, colleges, and communities, and inspire the next generation of learners.
As part of our recruitment and outreach team, you will play a key role in raising awareness of higher education and the University by developing strong relationships with schools, colleges, and community partners. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating Open Days, Offer Holder Days, campus tours, and subject-specific events that showcase the Barrow Campus and wider University offer, ensuring every visitor has a welcoming and inspiring experience. Alongside this, you will deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and interactive sessions both on campus and in schools or colleges, providing high-quality information, advice, and guidance to prospective students and their supporters. A central part of the role will be to work with academic colleagues and professional service staff to promote, design and deliver impactful outreach activities, while monitoring and evaluating their success to drive continuous improvement.
We are looking for a confident communicator and engaging presenter who is organised, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. You will bring strong relationship-building skills and a passion for supporting students to make informed choices about their future. Flexibility is essential, as the role involves travel across Cumbria, Lancashire, and beyond, with occasional overnight stays. Experience in student recruitment or educational guidance is preferred.
This is a varied and rewarding opportunity to play a leading role in establishing the Barrow Campus as an aspirational hub for learners and the wider community.
