About the Role
We seek an experienced Laboratory Manager to provide support and contribute to the efficient execution of all the research activities within the Centre for Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology. Key responsibilities of this role include the operation, maintenance and day-to-day running of the facilities within the Centre, managing purchasing and budgets, and managing equipment expenditure and maintenance. The post holder will act as the Safety Officer for Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology, overseeing and ensuring compliance, as well as providing hands-on technical support to departmental staff.
About You
You should have a minimum BSc degree in biological/chemical sciences or equivalent qualification and have considerable and demonstrable technical experience of managing and working in a laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will be highly organised with experience of laboratory space/project management, strong IT skills and experience of procurement and finance systems. You will have the ability to work independently and have a sound knowledge of health and safety management.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
EMR opened in May 2007 and is led by Professor Costantino Pitzalis. You will join a 60-strong research team dedicated to understanding the disease pathogenesis and improving the treatment of several musculoskeletal diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and Osteoarthritis. EMR is part of the newly awarded Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The Centre is located at the Charterhouse Square campus in the heart of the City of London close to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London and requires travel. It is a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of Autumn 2025. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £44,288 - £51,755 per annum, inclusive of London allowance.
