Job Description:

Main duties and responsibilities

De Montfort University is a university of quality and distinctiveness, distinguished by our lifechanging research, dynamic international partnerships, vibrant links with business and our commitment to excellence in learning, teaching and the student experience. We offer more than 300 courses at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate, many of which offer professional accreditations, and links to industry or work experience. DMU undergraduate and postgraduate courses receive continual input from leading employers and professional bodies and are underpinned by world-leading research. This ensures they remain relevant and up-to-date and provide students with the skills and experience employers expect from candidates in a competitive job market.

Faculty / Directorate

Our Digital and Technology Directorate is central to delivering DMU’s transformation agenda. We are reimagining how digital services are developed, delivered, and maintained—moving towards agile product-led models more commonly seen in the wider public sector. Through a strategic move to cloud platforms and the active reduction of technical debt, we are creating a modern, responsive digital environment. As trusted advisors in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, automation, and service design, our teams focus on improving university-wide systems and experiences.

Role

Be at the heart of delivering high-quality digital experiences that support our students’ learning, research, and everyday university life.

We are seeking a detail-driven and proactive QA Testing and Release Analyst to join our dedicated Quality Assurance Testing and Release team. You will play a pivotal role in testing, assuring, and releasing the applications, systems, and software that keep our university running. From ensuring the accuracy of our student results system to delivering seamless updates for online services, your work will directly enhance the digital journey of every student and staff member.

Your responsibilities will include designing and executing test plans, carrying out exploratory and risk-based testing, managing release processes, collaborating closely with developers and project teams, and providing expert advice on testing best practices to drive digital efficiency.

Ideal Candidate

  • Essential skills and experience: Proven experience in software testing and release management, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of risk-based testing approaches.
  • Desired skills and experience: Knowledge of higher education systems, familiarity with test automation tools, and experience working in Agile environments.
  • Personal qualities: A collaborative team player, proactive problem-solver, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
  • Our culture: At our university, we put students at the heart of everything we do. We value innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement — qualities we’re looking for in every new team member.
