The Department of Philosophy is delighted to offer a new apprenticeship opportunity within our Programmes Team.
The Assistant Programmes Apprentice will play a key role in the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, providing information and assistance to staff and students, and contributing to the delivery of a successful student experience. The role involves collaborating with team members ensure seamless delivery of educational programmes across the department.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills, whilst also pursuing a professional qualification in either business administration (Level 3) or project management (Level 4).
The apprentice will be expected to participate in training and development and work towards the completion of their apprenticeship within the agreed timeframe (usually within 24-30 months of the start of the contract date).
The final topic, level and duration of the apprenticeship will be determined by the post holder’s previous study and work attainment and experience.
About You
You don’t need to be familiar with Universities, academic departments or the role of a Programmes Assistant to apply. We are looking for someone who is committed, and keen to learn and work within our established team to deliver the best experience for our students. This role is an ideal opportunity for someone to increase or extend their experience and knowledge in a positive and supportive department.
You will be educated to GSCE level standard or equivalent, with proven IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office). You will need to have excellent time management skills, and an aptitude for balancing competing priorities so you can manage studying alongside work.
You’ll need to have excellent communication skills, be able to listen, and willing to help.
You will be expected to support the wider team and to participate in student events, such as Welcome Week, student inductions, Open Days and graduations.
