The role

You will be part of the Primary Care teaching team in Bristol Medical School with particular responsibility for clinical contact in the 2nd year of the medical undergraduate programme, which is part of our Effective Consulting course.

What will you be doing?

Your main focus will be ensuring our year 2 students going out to GP practices have a rich learning experience. This will comprise recruitment and training of GP teachers, supporting our teachers in practice, revising learning materials and delivering some lectures as part of the Effective Consulting programme.

This post is suited to candidates who are GPs with experience of teaching medical students in practice. Enthusiasm and commitment will rank above experience in our selection, but a proven track record in communications skills teaching, assessment, course design and pastoral care is desirable. IT skills are vital and competence in the online world is desirable – e.g. in the creation of video material, use of AI. 

Additional information

Contract type: Open-ended (ideally, start 03/11/2025)

Work pattern: Part-time flexible/0.2 WTE (2PA), normally 9am-5pm, but with some flexibility to cover teaching and assessments.

Grade: Clinical academic (GP Educator)

Shift pattern: 8 hours per week
