Summary of the role:
The University of Exeter wishes to recruit a full-time Assistant Technician (Animal) to work with academic and technical staff in the University’s Biological Research Facilities (BRF) within Technical Strategy and Operations. The post is one of several rodent technicians in the BSU (rodent) facility within the wider BRF team. The post is available on the Streatham Campus from November 2025 for a fixed term of 9 months, until August 2026.
The post is primarily to undertake the care and welfare aspects of all animals held in the animal facilities, and to support service users carrying out their research. The role holder will also carry out housekeeping and ancillary duties and lab support tasks to support the facilities.
Organisational context:
The Research Services Division is a key enabler to the delivery of the University’s Strategy 2030, the Research and Impact Strategy, successful REF performances, and meeting research income targets.
This role is within the Technical Strategy & Operations part of the Division. We are research and teaching technical staff across the entirety of the University of Exeter. We work in specialist areas across the University and beyond, undertaking and supporting research and teaching and promoting compliance and best practice, in the labs, studios, workshops, and field.
The service is comprised of a team of talented individuals who support our teaching and research, and in training the next generation of top scientists.
