Vice Principal (Director of Resources & Operations)

City & Guilds of London Art School

Location: London
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 4th September 2025
Closes: 19th September 2025

City & Guilds of London Art School is an independent Higher Education Provider and charity based in Kennington, London. Offering programmes that span fine art, illustration and heritage crafts, we are characterised by our commitment to historical and contemporary research, and the intensity of our connection with materials and techniques.

Across our over 170 year history, we’ve stayed focused and, true to our roots, led by practising artists, conservators and makers, so that every student enjoys the benefit of being part of a warm, tight-knit, energised and characterful community of practitioners.

We are well respected for our specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Fine Art, Carving (Stone and Wood), Conservation (Stone and Wood, Books and Paper) and our intensive Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.

We are now looking to appoint to the role of Vice Principal (Director of Resources & Operations). This is an important, senior role at the Art School, responsible for supporting the Principal in the delivery of its Strategic Vision and to monitor the progress of its objectives.

The Art School is entering a new strategic planning cycle that will see us growing our profile and portfolio; expanding our international links and external partnerships; and, deepening our civic impact on our neighborhood in Kennington and further afield. The Vice Principal will be at the heart of delivering and communicating this vision to stakeholders and potential partners.

They will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of internal resources and will act as the deputy to the Principal in all matters excluding academic. They will also be central to external partnership development, to oversee income generation, including the management and oversight of recruitment of students and staff. They are the lead person, responsible for OfS returns and so it is anticipated that the successful candidate would have a level of quality assurance experience and familiarity with policy oversight.

Strong candidates will have significant experience of leading strategic planning in a complex context with a track record of diverse and successful operations management. They will have proven experience of successful management of staff teams, and experience of working at a senior level in a Higher Education context. They will engender a culture of openness and sharing, with a particular emphasis on working in partnership.

This is an exciting time to become part of our community and to help shape the future of the Art School.

Applications, which should be in the form of a CV and cover letter, should be sent via the 'Apply' button above (e: cglas@minervasearch.com) no later than 19 September.

Interviews are likely to take place w/c 6 October.

The Art School is an equal opportunity organisation and is committed to a working environment which is free from discrimination on the grounds of colour, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability.
