Applications are invited for an Associate/ Assistant Professor position in English literary studies in the Department of English, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Department seeks applicants whose teaching will develop areas underrepresented in our curriculum, with experience in performance studies being an advantage. Applicants will have a demonstrable track record in digital humanities and/or other emergent research methods in the humanities. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding teaching across the curriculum, supervise research students, and contribute to the life of the Department and the Faculty by participating in seminars and taking on administrative and advisory responsibilities, as well as engaging in research projects with potential societal impact.
Applicants should have: (i) a PhD degree in English literary studies or a related field; (ii) a record of refereed publication; and (iii) relevant undergraduate and postgraduate level teaching experience. The following are desirable: (i) a record of successful grant application; (ii) postgraduate supervisory experience; (iii) relevant administrative experience; and (iv) evidence of societal engagement.
The appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, commencing August 2026, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment later.
