The research group of Dr Lewis E. MacKenzie is recruiting a Research Assistant in the Synthesis and Application of Upconversion Nanoparticles. To be considered for the role, you will have a PhD (desirable) or equivalent level of experience in chemistry, nanotechnology, or a related subject on the start date of the project (1st October 2025). Experience in the synthesis and application of upconversion nanoparticles, including experience using high-safety autoclave reactor systems, is essential.
You will have knowledge of appropriate research methods, have an ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, with general supervision from DrLewis MacKenzie, and you will have an ability to work within a team environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of communicating science via relevant written peer-reviewed publications and spoken conference presentations. As a member of the MacKenzie group, you will be expected to assist with various duties, including assisting with training and induction of undergraduate students and PhD students, as well as compliance with all relevant health and safety procedures to ensure safe working in a laboratory environment.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to engage in continued professional development activities offered by the University of Strathclyde.
Please note that due to the nature of the role, this is a fully on-site position.
