Harper Adams University is looking to recruit a Postgraduate Research Student Coordinator for University’s postgraduate research students from point of application to graduation. In collaboration with the Director of Postgraduate Research the postholder ensures that external regulatory requirements and the University’s aim to provide an excellent student experience are satisfied. 

The successful candidate should provide tactful and effective communication as a first point of contact when receiving email, telephone or face to face enquires from students, staff and external visitors or enquirers. Maintain confidentially and security of sensitive information. Share expertise both within the immediate team and across other University teams and departments. Ensure the Postgraduate Research office, and the wider University, is compliant with legislation including extant data protection regulation. Work in co-operation and close liaison with colleagues within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor to provide short-term cover for peak workloads or absence as necessary.

Ideally the successful candidate will

  • Possess a first degree or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work accurately under pressure, including balancing diverse tasks which encompass the entire student lifecycle.
  • Evidence of self-motivation, with the confidence to take initiative and work autonomously with limited direction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a professional and proactive approach to client service.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including substantial experience of multiuser databases.
  • Servicing committees through agenda preparation and accurate minute taking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of staff as well as individuals from a range of backgrounds and nationalities.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, including through occasional evening or weekend work in periods of short-term exceptional workload.
  • Previous experience of higher education administration.
