Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) EPH is a world leading multi-disciplinary research department that conducts timely, rigorous and independent research with sound statistical methods into a better understanding of health and the prevention of ill health. This position will be in the Ageing Research Group and focused on whether housing energy efficiency retrofit interventions improve the mental and physical health of older people living in England in the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. About the role

This project investigates whether housing energy efficiency retrofit interventions can improve the mental and physical health of older adults in England, reduce health inequalities, support economic sustainability, and contribute to progress towards net zero. You will analyse longitudinal data from ELSA, alongside linked Hospital Episode Statistics and energy efficiency datasets, to address the project’s core research questions. You will also contribute to interpreting findings, preparing outputs for publication, and supporting collaboration with the project’s collaborators and PPIE. Application Details:

• This is a fixed-term contract with external funding until 30 September 2028 in the first instance • Appointment at Grade 7 (£45,103-£52,586) is dependent on award and confirmation of a PhD (or equivalent). If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (£39,148 - £41,833 per annum) inclusive of London allowance with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis with no corrections.

About you

You will have a PhD in epidemiology, quantitative social science, statistics or other relevant discipline, and a track record of longitudinal research on ageing. You should also have a high-quality publication portfolio, and knowledge of ageing research. You should be able to work with PPIE, stakeholders from different disciplines and with policy makers.
