The opportunity

We’re building a digitally confident, service-led University where technology underpins how we teach, learn, research and work. As our next Director of Technology, you’ll set the strategic direction for enterprise-level information systems and lead the teams that deliver a seamless experience for students and colleagues across campus and services.

This pivotal role within Infrastructure Services partners across the University to ensure platforms, data and integration are secure, resilient and continuously improved. You’ll report to the Executive Director, Infrastructure Services, sit on the directorate senior leadership team and contribute to institutional planning and governance.

Our ambition is anchored in Strategy 2030 and our civic mission to shape a fairer, brighter and carbon neutral future. Technology is a key enabler, from the student journey to research and enterprise, and this post is critical to delivering it.

What you’ll lead

  • Vision and roadmap for enterprise systems aligned to institutional priorities
  • A product-led approach to platforms and data, balancing security, resilience and usability
  • An operating model enabling iterative change, strong supplier management and value for money
  • A culture of service excellence, measurable outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Effective stakeholder engagement at executive level and across academic and professional services
  • Talent development, inclusion and wellbeing across multidisciplinary teams

About you
You’ll be a recognised expert and trusted adviser, able to turn ambition into delivery through clear priorities, strong teams and genuine collaboration:

  • Senior leadership experience across enterprise platforms, data and integration in complex organisations
  • Credibility to influence at executive level and within governance
  • Proven record of delivering measurable improvements across multiple platforms
  • Commitment to user-centred design, accessibility and inclusive leadership
  • Comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams and developing future leaders
Location: Kingston upon Hull
Salary: Competitive salary, negotiable based on skills and experience.
Hours: Full Time
