Senior HR Coordinator (Maternity Cover) for the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and Department of Haematology
Applications are invited for this exciting role in the joint professional services team supporting both the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI) and the Department of Haematology.
The CSCI is a world-leading centre for stem cell research with the mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem cell biology. The Department of Haematology has an international reputation in biomedical research, with a particular focus on blood cell formation, blood cancers and thrombosis. Approximately 60% of Haematology research groups are part of CSCI.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to provide comprehensive HR support as part of our joint team. You will report to the Business & Operations Manager and will be responsible for delivering a pro-active and responsive HR service to institute and department staff and students. You will line manage a small team of 2 HR Coordinators and a Business Apprentice.
To perform this role effectively you will join us with experience of working administratively in an HR area and be able to demonstrate both factual and theoretical knowledge of HR administration, working with multiple processes and to tight regulations. You will be able to review new advice and guidance, understand how this affects local procedures, recommend and implement changes as required. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and will be able to manage good working relationships with a wide variety of people.
As well as excellent organisational skills, you will be self-motivated, trustworthy, used to dealing with highly confidential information and able to work quickly, methodically and accurately demonstrating consistent high levels of attention to detail. You will possess flexibility, adaptability and excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet multiple deadlines.
Competent use of Microsoft Office is essential and experience working with specialist HR systems and other business-related software would be advantageous.
You will be educated to HND/ HNC level, level 4/ 5 vocational qualification or an equivalent level of practical experience.
We offer the flexibility of hybrid working and would be willing to discuss the possibility of the role being appointed on a part-time basis.
The post is fixed term for up to 1 year to cover a period of maternity leave and is available from December 2025.
