About the role
Brighton and Sussex Medical School is seeking an Anatomy Facility Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality technical services in anatomy. You will join an award-winning team teaching over 1,000 students annually and oversee the daily operations of the Anatomy Facility, ensuring excellent teaching and research support while promoting continuous improvement.
You will manage the running of specialist teaching and research areas, ensuring services are efficient, compliant, and meet the needs of staff, students, and visitors. You’ll ensure adherence to relevant legislation and University policies, providing practical guidance. You will also line-manage the technical team, developing training and development plans.
A key part of your role is to develop strategies that expand the facility’s activities, including income generation and building industry partnerships to enhance resources. You will maintain safety compliance, update documentation, deliver training, and develop standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
Additionally, you will oversee equipment maintenance and contribute to health and safety committees. Working closely with academic, technical, and administrative colleagues, you will act as a vital link between the facility and its stakeholders, ensuring seamless service delivery in a specialist academic environment.
About you
You will be educated to degree level (Level 6) or equivalent, with strong practical knowledge of anatomical facilities and techniques. Your effective management skills and experience leading small teams will enable you to oversee operations and drive continuous improvement confidently.
You have excellent communication skills, able to clearly present policies and procedures to diverse audiences. Your planning, organisational, and project management abilities help you delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities.
Skilled at building positive working relationships, you use interpersonal skills to influence and contribute to team success. You are analytical, able to generate solutions and make sound decisions, with a strong commitment to excellent service.
Technically competent, you work well on your own initiative and understand University systems, legislation, and health and safety regulations, including the Human Tissue Act (2004). Experience in management and data handling is essential.
