The Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHI-Zone) is being established to accelerate the growth of the health and life science sector, upskill residents and create jobs for the Liverpool City Region. Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) and the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC) are now seeking a candidate to join the CHI-Zone programme team in the role of AI & Cyber-Physical Systems Engineer.
As a key member of the team, working under the supervision of colleagues within the CHI-Zone team and Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), you will design, inform, develop and test solutions to pressing problems posed by commissioners and providers or health and care services. You will assume primary responsibility for developing pipelines for integrating technologies with themes across autonomous systems, cyber-physical systems, robotics, IoT, distributed and connected devices. You will engage with industry stakeholders, other engineers and domain experts to ensure tools integration across a range of diverse sources, systems and platforms.

You will work at the Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) on the University of Liverpool campus, but also interact with staff at CHIL who are based at the Liverpool Science Park and the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC) facility located on the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus (as required).
The post is available from 1 October 2025 until 31 March 2028. Interviews will be held on Friday 10th October.
Although the university has a hybrid working system, we expect that the applicant appointed to this role will work more than 60% on campus
