About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance and Governance Manager to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of quality assurance systems and clinical governance frameworks within our Research Ethics and Governance Office. This leadership role is essential to ensuring that all sponsored clinical research adheres to the highest standards of regulatory compliance, participant safety, ethics and scientific integrity. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust clinical governance strategies aligned with institutional, national, and international standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as the MHRA, HRA, and relevant university policies.
  • Lead on clinical risk management, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support academic departments in maintaining high standards of clinical practice in research.
  • Provide expert guidance on clinical governance matters to researchers, educators, and senior leadership.
  • Oversee internal audits and prepare for external inspections and accreditations.
  • Champion a culture of transparency, learning, and excellence in clinical research and education.

About You

  • Significant experience in clinical governance, quality assurance, or healthcare compliance within a research or academic setting.
  • Expert knowledge of UK clinical research regulations and governance frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across academic, clinical, and administrative teams.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in clinical research, governance, sponsorship or quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and the Human Tissue Act would be advantageous.
