About the Role
Queen Mary University of London working with Barts Health NHS trust designs to improve service delivery of Hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting and its objectives by conducting research and audits in areas identified by Pancreas Get It Right First Time (GIRFT) and National Pancreatic Audit. The post-holder will conduct audit and research into working of HPB MDT.

The candidate will conduct audit and research into functioning of HPB MDT to improve data collection and audit for all HPB cancers, separate cancer work from non-cancer work, Research into efficiency in HPB MDT, increase number of pancreatic resections, assess effectiveness and uptake of neoadjuvant and Adjuvant chemotherapy.

About You
Candidate is expected to have medical qualification, with membership of one of the Medical Royal Colleges along with understanding of cancer diagnosis and staging with imaging and histopathology requirements, be able to work in multi-disciplinary team and have good communication skills. The applicant will be subject to DBS check, right to work requirements and ability to carry out exposure prone procedures. It would be desirable to see ability to work flexibly across campuses and teams along with good computing skills. A higher degree would be desirable.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists at Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is committed in supporting and developing future cancer researchers through its extensive postgraduate training. It is one of six institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD).

This project is funded by North East London Cancer Alliance for a fixed duration until 14th August 2026 with no possibility of extension. It would be ideally suited to candidates an out of program training opportunity.
