Company description:
We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
Job description:
The Role
The Faculty of Medical Sciences is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Education Assistant Manager to join our Assessment Team, supporting the delivery of our medical degree programmes. You'll supervise a team responsible for in-course assessments and exams, managing preparation and prioritisation while contributing to the wider student lifecycle.
This is a fast-paced role and, at times, can be pressurised and occasionally may require working outside of normal hours. We are seeking a confident communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and an aptitude for quickly building positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
You will deputise for the Education Manager (Assessment) when required, demonstrating the ability to work successfully as part of the wider team as well as an individual, prioritising your own workload to meet demand and deadlines. Although training and ongoing support will be provided, it is essential you have the ability to navigate complex systems quickly and effectively. You will be comfortable working with large data sets using Microsoft Excel.
Assessment delivery will be your main focus, but you will also get involved in other aspects of programme delivery at key points in the academic year, including admissions, curriculum, placements in the UK and overseas, student experience, student wellbeing and many more business functions. As well as working with the immediate team in the University, assessment delivery also includes working with our key partners in the NHS and our NUMed campus in Malaysia.
The University is committed to providing a great range of benefits and discounts for our colleagues, which includes: excellent pension provision; an on-site sports centre and library; flexible working options; a minimum of 37 days holiday (including public holidays), a Christmas closure period, and the option to purchase a further two weeks additional leave per year; family friendly leave policies; discounted travel for the Metro and local bus services; 24 hour employee assistance phone line and web portal to provide support and advice with a wide variety of life's issues; and discounts for national retailers. You can find out more on our benefits web page.
