Are you an experienced academic in Philosophy with the ambition to carry out world-leading research and deliver an exceptional student experience in a research-intensive Russell Group University? Would you like to join and contribute to a vibrant philosophical community within the interdisciplinary School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science?
We are seeking to appoint a high-calibre individual with a strong research and teaching profile to complement our existing strengths in Philosophy. The post is open to those with specific expertise in social philosophy and an area of theoretical philosophy (metaphysics; epistemology; philosophy of language, logic, mind, action), within any philosophical approach or tradition. You may have equal levels of research specialism in both, or one may be more dominant than the other; the two areas may reflect two aspects of your work (e.g. an area of theoretical philosophy engaged through a social or political approach) or represent different non-intersecting areas of interest.
As an Associate Professor/Lecturer, you will carry out research, teaching and management within the School, Faculty and University. You will the ambition to contribute to the School’s research environment and its reputation for high-quality and impactful research, and to academic leadership in the field. You will have the expertise and experience to be a versatile teacher of philosophy across our BA and MA programmes, contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and take on appropriate administrative roles. An ability to teach feminist philosophy, philosophy of sex and gender, philosophy of race, philosophy of disability, non-Western philosophy, or the philosophy of logic and mathematics would be an advantage. You will also be committed to enhancing the School’s ambition to be a creative and inclusive community renowned for both its academic excellence and its impact on policy, practice, and public life.
