Are you interested in supporting an exciting new research project on reproductive health? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Administrator & Events Co-ordinator to join the School of Social Sciences on a four year contract this Autumn.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Administrator & Events Co-ordinator to support the work of a new research project funded by the Wellcome Trust: ‘Contragestive Time: Pregnant Uncertainties in Fertility Control’. This is a part-time (17.5 hours a week), fixed-term contract for over four years, with a salary of £17,414 rising to £19,491 per year.
This project brings together clinicians, social scientists, lawyers, philosophers, humanities scholars and advocates to rethink concepts of early pregnancy and reproductive timing; challenge outdated legal and regulatory frameworks; test the feasibility of new clinical services; and engage with the public and policymakers to shape a more inclusive future for fertility control.
As Administrator & Events Co-ordinator, you will work closely with the Project Manager to provide proactive administration for the project’s six research work-packages and administrative support for the Principal Investigator, based at Birkbeck, and the Co-Investigators working across a number of other UK institutions.
You will also lead on events co-ordination and production for the project’s extensive events and public engagement programme.

Some meetings and events will take place on different days of the week, occasionally in the early evening, and at weekends.
You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, contributing to the success of an internationally significant programme of research. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative and events co-ordination skills and a passion for making a difference. Salary and benefits
Actual £17,414 rising to £19,491 per year, 0.5 FTE, (pro-rated £34,827- £38,981 per year). Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
Fixed-term, over 4 year contract January 2026 to April 2030 (exactly 52 months), part-time 0.5 FTE, (17.5 hours a week) hybrid or remote offered with occasional travel to support meetings at university campuses in Sussex, Bristol and Manchester, and to support public engagement events around the UK.
