Oxford Centre for Mission Studies

Location: Oxford
Salary: £18,216 to £19,796 (£30,378-£33,002 FTE) depending on qualifications and experience
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 9th October 2025
Closes: 6th November 2025

The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS) is looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Librarian to lead the management and development of its library (a specialist subject library of the Oxford University Bodleian libraries) and digital resources. The purpose of the role is to enable OCMS to develop its physical collection into a high quality mission research library and to ensure that all scholars working with OCMS have digital access to the resources they need when not based in Oxford. We would consider someone who has recently qualified as well as those who have more experience.

OCMS is a Christian mission and academic institution serving the Global Church to realise God’s transforming mission through research and applied scholarship. In order to do this, we have access to significant library resources both on our own premises, through Middlesex University and, for those located in Oxford, throughout the Oxford University libraries in order to serve our 120+ PhD students, research scholars (pre-and post-doctoral), research associates and staff.

The main objectives of the role are:

  • Develop a 5-year strategy for the library and digital resources and lead the implementation;
  • Develop and enhance external relationships with partner libraries in Oxford;
  • Respond effectively to the research needs of all library users, including Bodleian readers, distance learners, and independent researchers;
  • Provide a physical accessible presence in the library for all users;
  • Develop digital library access to the resources needed by our remotely based researchers;
  • Be, or become, the subject specialist for Mission Studies.

In return, we offer a generous annual leave, a pension scheme, and a commitment to your continuing personal and career development in an environment that encourages creativity, diversity and excellence. We seek to be a welcoming, spiritual community, have a regular community lunch and make time weekly where we gather for prayer and worship.

If you have the skills required and are committed to our Christian Mission and Vision then we would like to hear from you.

To be considered for this role, all applicants must currently have the right to work in the UK, therefore we will not accept applications from overseas.

To apply please submit a CV and completed application form to jobs@ocms.ac.uk or visit our jobs page via the ‘Apply’ button above.

Hours: Part-time role of 24 hours per week (worked over 3-5 days)

Closing date: 4pm Thursday 6th November 2025, with interviews to be held on Monday 17th November and Tuesday 18th November

Start date: 2nd February 2026

The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies is registered in the United Kingdom as a charity (Charities Registration No. 290112) and is a company limited by guarantee (Registered in England & Wales: Company No. 1835274)
