Opportunity Overview
The Student Cases and Conduct Officer is a key member of the Student Cases, Conduct & Safeguarding Team, responsible for managing and resolving non-academic misconduct, safeguarding, and welfare cases. The role involves liaising with students, staff, and external agencies, ensuring fair and timely case handling, and supporting the development of a safe, inclusive campus environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education casework, student support, strong communication and analytical skills, and a commitment to equality and diversity. They should be organised, detail-oriented, able to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, and comfortable working collaboratively across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Record Keeping
Manage and resolve student conduct, safeguarding, and welfare cases; maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant records.

Communication & Guidance
Convey complex and sensitive information clearly; provide advice and guidance to students, staff, and external agencies.

Policy Administration & Reporting
Operate and interpret university policies and procedures; prepare and present cases, and produce monitoring reports.

Organisation & Analytical Skills
Plan and prioritise a busy workload; assess complex cases, analyse data, and support continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Training
Work flexibly with colleagues and external partners; deliver training and support awareness campaigns to promote a positive, inclusive campus culture.

About the Student Cases and Conduct Team
The University is committed to ensuring a safe, effective, and inclusive environment for students and the wider university community. The Student Cases, Conduct & Safeguarding team have recently formed to bring together student case work related to some of the University’s more complex student cases, working closely with other support teams (including Wellbeing, Disability and the Respect, Culture & Behaviour team who support students experiencing unwanted behaviour from others), the Quality Management Office and academic schools to ensure that the University responds quickly and appropriately to manage risks presented due to student conduct, support to study, safeguarding, Prevent and other student facing policies. The team play a key role in liaising directly with students and stakeholders both internally and externally, closely following and developing University policies and procedures that promote a positive, respectful and safe campus culture.
