Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, Sapphire Capital Partners LLP, in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast, have an exciting employment opportunity for a motivated Computer Science/Software Engineering/Digital Product Development graduate to work on a project to design, build and develop an innovative cloud based digital platform.

The aim of this platform will ultimately be:

  • Development of advanced data pipelines to analyse structured and unstructured financial data, for example scraping of open and private data sources such as websites and other financial reports.
  • Integration of reporting analytics and visualisation dashboards to enhance investor insights using up-to-date information gathered and synthesised from (1).
  • Implementation of an AI-driven investment platform for future investment fund launches, using predictive approaches and analytics.

Once established the platform will be further expanded to include a wider range of data sources, offer the opportunity for commercialisation through white-box provision to other financial service companies.

This role is company-based and will be delivered in collaboration with the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s.

The successful candidate will become part of a team within Sapphire Capital Partners. Sapphire specialises in the launch, management and support of sector-focused venture capital funds. Sapphire helps visionaries launch new venture capital funds and provides them with the infrastructure and support needed.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Hold at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Product Development, or a closely related discipline. Where candidates hold an international degree, please ensure the equivalence of this to a UK classification (i.e. 1st class, 2.1, 2.2 etc) is clear in your application.
  • Relevant demonstrable knowledge and experience of each of the following: software deployment (including cloud computing), business intelligence/analytics, data visualisation and reporting, agile methodology, lean startup and DevOps methodologies.*
  • Demonstrable relevant technical skills including the use of AI and the deployment or development of Large Language Models (LLM).*
  • Demonstrable relevant technical skills in the creation and deployment of complex software systems including APIs.*

*May be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement or work experience. Applicants must adequately evidence how they have gained relevant experience/knowledge/skills in detail, using examples and dates where appropriate to demonstrate that they meet these requirements.  It is not sufficient to simply list duties/skills/modules/assignment titles as evidence.
