Description of Post
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering is one of the four departments in the School of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, and the department has over 600 full-time and part-time students registered on level 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 programmes. Programme delivery modes include part-time, full-time, blended learning and apprenticeships. The department offers programmes in the fields of Agricultural, Biomedical, Energy, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Automation and Robotics. Many of these programmes are professional accredited and/or are in the process of being accredited by Engineers Ireland.
To aid with the delivery of these programmes, the department are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Lecturer in Mechanical - Manufacturing Engineering. The Lecturer will play a crucial role in academic and curriculum development activities and will assist in the development of programmes and modules at all levels for full-time and part-time students.
The successful candidates will deliver modules related to Mechanical - Manufacturing Engineering in general. The position is well-suited for an individual who is passionate about teaching and transferring engineering knowledge, practices and experiences.
The lecturer is expected to develop ‘best practice’ pedagogic methods which will engage the student and enhance the student’s learning in context. The teaching emphasis is on the development of relevant skills through the use of industry standard practices, and has recently steered toward more student-centred delivery and assessment methods and the integration of teaching and research.
