The Department of International Relations at Bilkent University invites applications for an open rank (Asst/Assoc/Full Professor) position to begin in September 2026. We seek scholars whose research connects historical analysis to broader debates in international relations. Candidates working in Historical International Relations, Historical Political Economy, and Comparative Historical Analysis, who employ rigorous analytical and evidence-based methods (quantitative or qualitative) are encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome candidates with regional expertise who do research and can offer courses in their area of specialization.*
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to produce world-class scholarly output evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the department, including teaching the department’s compulsory historical survey courses “Diplomatic History” and “20th Century World Politics.” The normal teaching load is 2+2, after an initial course reduction for early career researchers
