Associate Tutor - Critical Perspectives on People Management

Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Tutor in Critical Perspectives on People Management to join Birkbeck Business School and support the team this coming year 2026.

We are seeking an Associate Tutor to teach across the following module:

• BUMN150H5 Critical Perspectives on People Management
• 27 hours total teaching
• Spring term Thursdays 3:30-5pm and 6-7:30pm teaching in-person.

You will have knowledge of Human Resource Management or related disciplines (e.g. Employment Relations, Sociology of Work) and experience of teaching in Higher Education, especially at Undergraduate Level, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

As an Associate Tutor, you will also have:

• Recently completed, or to work towards completion of, a PhD in Human Resource Management or Employment Relations, or the Sociology of Work or related disciplines.
• Advanced experience in teaching and supporting students on academic and research skills.
• A track record of student engagement and want to contribute to an impactful and transformational educational experience.
• The ability able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate, and has the ability to support teaching.

Contract

Remuneration
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £59.91 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.

This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 6 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
