Are you friendly, enthusiastic, and motivated with a passion for supporting the next generation of dental professionals? The University of Sheffield’s School of Clinical Dentistry is seeking a dedicated Clinical Skills Learning Environment (CSLE) Technician to play a vital role in our recently upgraded and refurbished facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to provide hands-on practical help, ensuring our undergraduate and postgraduate students have the optimal environment and resources for their clinical skills training.
Based within the thriving School of Clinical Dentistry, you’ll be the essential link between the CSLE Manager and our students. Your core duties will focus on the preparation of materials and equipment for all teaching sessions held in the CSLE and at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital (CCDH).
As a key point of contact for students, your friendly, approachable, and professional attitude is essential to providing a supportive and inclusive environment. You must have good communication skills and the confidence to provide practical demonstrations to groups of students. You will also take on the important role of the CSLE’s ‘hand wash champion’, ensuring and assessing the highest standards of infection control.
To be successful, you must have GCSE English and Maths at grade C (4) or above (or an equivalent qualification/demonstrable ability) and practical hands-on experience in the preparation of dental models or equivalent work.
Experience or knowledge of dental materials, cross infection, waste management, and general dentistry are all desirable but not essential—we encourage all who meet the core requirements and have the right attitude to apply. Importantly, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community; even if your past experience doesn't perfectly match every criterion, your contribution is valuable, and we strongly encourage you to apply.
